You’ll no doubt have seen it if you’ve been online any length of time especially if you’re looking to make money online.
‘Start an online business and earn $10,000/month’
Warning!
You must understand this before going any further…
When you’re just starting out with no past experience, the first thing you should be focusing on is producing an income, NOT trying to build a fully operational business!
I remember when I first got started; I struggled for years trying to build a business to produce a regular, consistent income when, in fact, I had it all wrong.
My focus was everywhere, and nowhere!

And on and on!
I was burned out by the sheer scale of everything involved. It wasn’t until I stopped all my business building activities, took a step back, and looked at what I was trying to do.
It’s very rare (not impossible) to hit the ground running with the perfect business model starting from scratch!
What you need to be doing instead is to be looking for the most effective ways of generating an income that suites your
skills
temperament
current financial situation
and the time you have available
Your first step is to start producing an income
No matter how small at first.
Let’s face it, for a lot of people, earning $1000 a month is an ideal target to aim for, especially in these uncertain times.
But why is it that most big-name marketers who teach ‘how to make money online’ all assume that newcomers are experienced and capable of building a new business, starting from scratch?
Yet this is what most are teaching!
It’s unrealistic, suddenly expecting someone with no previous business experience to build a new, online business that’s immediately going to earn them a $1000 each and every month, or worse still - a six-figure income!
Be cautious of where you’re being led
You wouldn’t enter ‘MasterChef’ if you’d just learned to boil an egg, so why do so many people think they can start an online business when they haven’t even made their first dollar online?
In my opinion, there are two issues here that are deliberately being intertwined to confuse those new to online marketing so as to sell them an overpriced course or coaching program.
Those just wanting to start earning a realistic income of lets say, $500 to $1000 per month
Those wanting to start a new online business (providing they have the necessary experience)
Don’t be misled by confusing the two!
If you’re starting from scratch and you’ve never built a business before, then the priority is all about achieving that $1000 and then being able to repeat it time and time again.
It’s not about building your ideal business, at least not at first!
Disillusionment and confusion
Is it any wonder that so many newcomers quickly become overwhelmed, disillusioned and don’t know what to do next?
Once you know how to make that $1000 a month and you can repeat it time and time again, then it’s time to start and think about developing it into a fully fledged business, if that’s your goal.
But not before!
That’s the time when you change focus and start to do things that build a business, not just an income.
Make sure you understand what it is you’re wanting to achieve, and then follow the best path to get it!
Recognise that initially your focus should be on mastering the skills and strategies necessary to build the essential foundations.
Once this is established, then that’s the time to contemplate whether to develop further into a fully fledged business or to remain content with a nice, healthy side income.
Believing it’s possible
When you’ve made your first $1,000 your lack of belief that it’s possible will dissolve into thin air - you have overcome one of the biggest self-limiting beliefs that stops many from making it online.
But once you know it’s actually possible to make $1,000 consistently by your own efforts, it’s then just a matter of rinse and repeat!
From my experience, it’s much harder to go from zero to a regular $1,000 than it is to go from $1,000 to $10,000, for many different reasons.
But when you do… You’re on your way.
That’s it for this week.

I've watched this process play out repeatedly across several platforms...
It takes proof of concept of the first dollar, and even then, it's breaking out of the mindset that pervades throughout that a career is the only way to go.
Believing you can reach something is a huge part of the battle that people tend to take for granted for some odd reason.
